The Swiss e-vignette is digitally linked to a specific license plate number, not the vehicle itself. If you sell your car but keep the same license plate (transferring it to your new vehicle), your e-vignette remains valid. However, if you get a new license plate number for any reason (e.g., moving to a new canton, new car with new plates), you will need to purchase a new e-vignette for that new license plate. You can easily manage and update your linked license plates within your RoadTagger account.
